Most 3D printer management tools are cloud services: your machines connect out to a vendor's servers, and you manage them through someone else's account. That is convenient until the parts you print are confidential, the network has no route to the internet, or a security review asks where your telemetry goes.

On-premise print farm software keeps the machines on your own network instead of a vendor's. The printers are not reachable from the public internet, traffic is encrypted, and your model files are not processed by anyone else's service.
